Saturday Funnies

A Softer World

asw_love1

Spending the day out with friends today and catching up with my latest addiction, the Metamor City podcast by Chris Lester.

Just a *teeny* plug: I began listening almost a year ago, Life got busy, and I stopped for a while.  Now that I’ve returned to the podcast I anticipate hearing the next chapter of the story more and more.  The writing is extremely engaging, imaginative and prolific.  I’ve been listening to them in 3-4 episode blocks (while driving, at work or just working arond the house) and I’m ready for more of the good stuff.  Kudos to Chris Lester (and his amazing cast of voice actors) for developing such a delightful experience…even if I am on a year’s delay :)

I need iTunes help

I just learned that iTunes’ podcast functionality is limited. The software only lets me sort the podcasts I’ve downloaded by their release date. This is fine for episodes that have unrelated content (like the daily news), but for books, dramas, and anything that depends on a specific chronological order, it’s a nuisance.

I ran into trouble last night when I tried to load an audiobook I’ve downloaded in podcast form onto my iPod. For some of my chapters, the sorting issue means the chapters are completely out of order because they were all released on one day, or several on one day, a few on the next, etc. These same chapters are also out of order in my library, which tells me the order they have in the library is kept when they are copied onto the iPod.

A cursory internet search didn’t turn up with much help. Has anyone come up with a fix for this problem, or can someone recommend a better library-to-iPod software?

Thanks!

The Next Generation of Television…sort of.

With all of this free time I’ve suddenly found I have fallen back into my old, lazy ways. Namely, television watching. I don’t own a television set, but (ha!) I own a computer, and what use would it be if I couldn’t find free internet tv? Of particular interest is the website AmericaFreeTV. There are classic movies, sci-fi, comedy and cartoon channels, and the internet stream is of a decent quality. Another I like is Retrovision. Lots of classic tv movies and shows there too (best run on IE, though, which is a bummer for me since I am a Firefox devotee). Granted, you won’t find the latest episode of Grey’s Anatomy or CSI; but it’s entertainment, nonetheless. Check ‘em out!
